I think the mystery is fine if the characters around us don't know it either. Have any of you experienced similar frustrations with this type of writing ? But it's all for naught if the game refuses to give me any kind of entry point into that world as im not the type who enjoys watching 2 hour youtube videos to understand the lore The world and characters seem interesting, and I can tell that there's a lot of thought put into the lore. It's frustrating because I can see that there's a lot of potential here. Honkai Star Rail definitely falls into the latter category, and it's making the writing a real chore to get through. But there's a difference between starting with a bang and completely neglecting any kind of introduction or context for the player. I understand that some games like to start with a bang, and that's fine. I want to care about the story and the lore, but it's hard to do so when I have no idea what's going on, like fr what's a stellaron or Aion From the very beginning, all characters talk and act as if the player is intimately familiar with the lore, and the setting and the only explanation they provide is through long texts of dialogue which makes the lore seem uninteresting. I just finished the prologue after hyping up for the game's release ever since it was revealed, and while the gameplay is pretty fun, I'm finding myself incredibly frustrated with the writing.
